Once you have the Sai (Dystopia) (unlocked by completing File R-003), you will find rematches against this machine far easier than before. The first time you fight it, EM Grenades are handy to stun it so you can whack it however, your supply of those a limited, so you may need to learn to Ninja Run towards the tank and start your attack combo with the heavy sliding attack to push it back so that it switches to biped form. This special unit is tasked with guarding the entrance of the inner section of the secret research facility and is a little tougher. The Grad is a tougher "elite" version of the Grad walking tanks you fight in R-03 and later. The strategies shown here can be performed without using the wig, though the fight will last longer. It makes use of the Infinite Wig B (unlocking infinite FC to allow unending Blade Mode or Ripper Mode) to cut down on the length of each battle. Sadly it’s not my most “impressive” run, since I was really quite sick of doing it, but it should show you how to do it.NOTE: This video contains strategies for completing the boss fight with an 'S' ranking on the Revengeance difficulty. Since it seems some people were having problems with this fight, I made a quick video of me doing it. This should be enough to win the fight, although try to focus on parrying his attacks over preventing them. Doing this twice will let you cut it up and effectively end the move. Simply stand still and parry it (up + light attack). Once you get Monsoon to low health (30% or so), he will start to roll a giant ball of items at you. Most of his attacks will come from above, so just stand there and parry everything he does. Staying close to the wall can keep him close as he normally rebounds a good enough distance to avoid the parry attempt. (same stun state from E.M.P or the Sai.). ![]() ![]() Connect a perfect parry to put Monsoon in a stun state for you to decapitate him. ![]() If you see him do this move, then just STOP moving. Perfect Parry his attacks when he's glowing purple. Another thing to watch out for is his smoke bomb attack. Anyways, the Monsoon boss battle from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. This can be performed by throwing an EMP grenade or hitting him with a purple charged sai (unlocks by beating Monsoon, charges automatically) attack. I wish I could make myself turn into t-bone size pieces of meat. However I strongly advise you avoid doing the second one, since you can prevent Monsoon from using his cheap dodge the second he touches the ground. Towards the middle of the fight, you will need to do a blade time event, which shouldn’t give you an issue. Most of Monsoon’s attacks come from above, so you can just parry them by pushing light attack and up. While there isn’t really a secret to defeating Monsoon, he actually comes off harder than he really is. Bringing him to one of these points will void whatever he is doing and will result in a blade time event (1,2,4) or ball event (3,5). These points are 70% (exactly), 55% (or so), 40% (exactly), 25% (or so), 10% (not exactly, but he generally stops trying). Most of the his cinematic parts are actually timed out, so keep this in mind. The vehicles he throws are easy to cut, the giant spinning thing is. When you obtain the Sai side weapon (from Monsoon), you can also use that to stun him out of it. Many people complain, but this boss isnt that hard. This will end his auto dodge sequence and is great if you want to avoid drama. ![]()
